ජන24-27 WSG සාමාජිකයින් තායිලන්තයේ චියැං මායි හි පැවති 3 වන ILGA-ආසියා කලාපීය සමුළුවට සහභාගී වුනා එහිදී   “ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ කාන්තා ලිංගිකත්වය සහ සංස්කෘතික දේශපාලනය” යන මාතෘකාව යටතේ අධ්‍යයන පත්‍රිකාවක් ඉදිරිපත් කළා. විස්තර මෙතැනින් කියවන්න.
පෙබ 11-16 ලිංගිකත්වය,  ලිංගික සහ ප්‍රජනක සෞඛ්‍යය සහ අයිතිවාසිකම් ගැන වැඩමුළුවක්  ඉන්දියාවේ, නවදිල්ලියේ, මනෙසාර් හි දී පෙබරවාරි 11-16 අතර පැවැත්වුනු අතර, මෙයට WSG එක් සාමාජිකයෙක් සහභාගි වුනා. විස්තර මෙතැනින් කියවන්න.

ජුනි 14 WSG විසින් අරමුදල් රැස් කිරීමේ අරමුණින්  “FREE-Q!” නමින් ප්‍රයිඩ් (අභිමානය) සාදයක් ගල්කිස්ස පාම් බීච් හෝටලයේ දී පවත්වා තිබෙනවා. විස්තර මෙතැනින් කියවන්න.
ජුනි 29 ලයනල් වෙන්ටඩ් රඟහලේ දී 2008 කොළඹ අභිමානය සතියේ පළමු අංගය ලෙස ඉදිරිපත් කළ ‘මට සිහිනයක් ඇත’ ඩ්‍රැග් සංදර්ශනයට කාන්තා ක්‍රියාකාරි කණ්ඩායම ද සහභාගි වී ඇති අතර WSG සාමාජිකාවන් කිහිප දෙනෙක් ද මෙහි විවිධ අංග සඳහා දායක වී තිබෙනවා. විස්තර මෙතැනින් කියවන්න.
ජුනි 30 – ජූලි 3 2008 කොළඹ අභිමානයේ දෙවැනි අංගය වූ පළමු LGBT ඡායාරූප සහ කලා ප්‍රදර්ශනය “රේන්බෝ විෂන්ස්” (“Rainbow Visions”) ට WSG සාමාජිකයන් ද කලා නිර්මාණ සහ ඡායාරූපවලින් දායක වුනා.  එසේ ඡායාරූප ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමෙන් එයට දායක වූ එක් සාමාජිකාවකගේ අත්දැකීමක් සංවේදීනි සඟරාවේ පලවුනා. විස්තර මෙතැනින් කියවන්න.
ජූලි  6 අභිමාන චාරිකාව (Dykes on Bike bike parade)

2008 කොළඹ අභිමානයේ අවසන් අංගය වූයේ  ගල්කිස්ස වෙරළ තීරයේ පැවති සරුංගල් උත්සවයයි. කාන්තා ක්‍රියාකාරී කණ්ඩායමේ සාමාජිකාවන් යතුරු පැදිවල නැගී, දේදුනු කොඩි අතැතිව, ගාළුපාර දිගේ පැමිණ, සරුංගල් උත්සවයට එකතු වුනා.  මෙය ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ පැවැති මුල්ම අභිමානී යතුරුපැදි සංදර්ශනයයි. විස්තර මෙතැනින් කියවන්න.
ජූලි 19-20 අගෝස්තු මාසයේ කොළඹදී පැවැත්වීමට සැලසුම් කර තිබූ දකුණු ආසියානු කලාපීය සහයෝගීතා සංගමයේ (SAARC) පහළොස්වන සමුළු රැස්වීමට සමගාමීව “දකුණු ආසියානු එකමුතුවක් කරා” යන තේමාව යටතේ ජනතා සාක් උළෙල නමින් දකුණු ආසියාවේ සියලු රටවල් නියෝජනය කරමින් සිවිල් සමාජ ක්‍රියාකාරීන් සහ විවිධ ප්‍රජා නියෝජිතයන් 1400කට වැඩි ගණනක් ද එක් රැස් වු විශාල සමුළුවක් සංවිධානය වුනා.මෙහි දී කාන්තා ක්‍රියාකාරී කණ්ඩායම, ගමන් මඟෙහි සහකාරුවෝ සහ ඊක්වල් ග්‍රවුන්ඩ් යන සංවිධාන තුනම එකට එක්ව කුටියක් පැවැත්වූ අතර, නිදහස් පා ගමනකට ද එක් වුනා. මෙය ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ LGBTIQ+ සංවිධාන විසින් සිය අයිතිවාසිකම් වෙනුවෙන් හඬ නගමින් පැවැත්වූ ප්‍රයිඩ් පාගමනකට සමාන පළමු ප්‍රසිද්ධ පාගමනයි. විස්තර මෙතැනින් කියවන්න.

2007 ජනතා සාක් උළෙලේ LGBTIQ+ තොරතුරු කුටිය
ජූලි තමන්ගේ ලිංගිකත්වය නිසා මුහුණ දුන් ගෘහස්ථ ප්‍රචණ්ඩත්වය නිසා නවාතැන් ගැනීමට තැනක් නොමැති වූ,  A නම් ලෙස්බියන් තරුණියක් සහ B නම් ඇගේ පෙම්වතිය ද සමග  නවාතැන් සොයා ගැනීමේ අරමුණින් WSG ආයතනයට පැමිණ තිබෙනවා. WSG විසින් නිවසට ආපසු යෑමට නොහැකි තත්වයක් ඇති A තරුණියට නවාතැන් ද, අනතුරුව රැකියාවක් ද සොයා දී තිබෙනවා. විස්තර මෙතැනින් කියවන්න.
අගෝස්තු පුත්තලමේදී ලිංගික සෞඛ්‍යය, ලිංගිකත්වය සහ සමාජභාව අනන්‍යතාවයන් පිළිබඳ වැඩමුළුවක් පුත්තලම ප්‍රජා දිරිය පදනම සමග එක්ව කාන්තා ක්‍රියාකාරී කණ්ඩායම විසින් පැවැත්වූවා.දිස්ත්‍රික්කය පුරා විවිධ ප්‍රදේශ නියෝජනය කළ, විවිධ ජනවර්ගවලට අයිති කාන්තාවන් 53 ක් මෙයට සහභාගි වුනා. විස්තර මෙතැනින් කියවන්න.
අගෝ 23 WSG හි කාර්ය මණ්ඩලය සහ සාමාජිකයින් සඳහා  එච්අයිවී/ඒඩ්ස් ගැන පුහුණුකරුවන්ගේ එක්දින පුහුණුවක් පැවැත්වූවා.  මෙම පුහුණුවේ ප්‍රධාන අරමුණ වූයේ පුත්තලම, මොනරාගල, බුත්තල සහ ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ දකුණේ අනෙකුත් ප්‍රදේශවල ග්‍රාමීය ප්‍රජා මූලික සංවිධානවල සහභාගිවන්නන්ට එච්අයිවී සහ ඒඩ්ස් පිළිබඳ අර්ධ දින පුහුණු සැසියක් මෙහෙයවීම සඳහා පුහුණුකරුවන් ලෙස ඔවුනු් පුහුණුකිරීමයි. විස්තර මෙතැනින් කියවන්න.
සැප් 3 – 4 දකුණු ආසියානු LGBTI හවුල්කාරිත්ව ගොඩනැගීමේ වැඩමුළුව සැප්තැම්බර් මාසයේ දී නේපාලයේ දී පැවැත්වුනා. මෙම වැඩමුළුවේ දී දකුණු ආසියාතික මානව හිමිකම් කොමිසමක්, ලිංගිකත්වය සහ සමාජභාවය නිසා සමාජ අසාධාරණයන්ට ලක්වෙන පිරිස වෙනුවෙන් නිර්මාණය කිරිමට එකඟතාවයකට පැමිණි අතර, එහි කාර්යාලය කත්මන්ඩු නුවර පිහිටුවීමට තීරණය කෙරුණා. සියළුම රටවලින් එයට නියෝජිතයන් පත් කළ අතර, කාන්තා ක්‍රියාකාරී කණ්ඩායම එහි ශ්‍රී ලංකා නියෝජිතයා ලෙස පත් කරනු ලැබුවා. විස්තර මෙතැනින් කියවන්න.
සැප් 19 සහ අවුරුද්ද පුරා හැම මසකම දිනයක සැම මසකටම වරක් කාන්තා ක්‍රියාකාරී කණ්ඩායම මාසික හමුවක් පැවැත්වූ අතර සැප්තැම්බර් මස පැවති WSG සුහද හමුවේදි ආරක්ෂාකාරී ලිංගික ක්‍රියාවලියන් සහ ලිංගික රෝග පිලිබිඳ ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමක් සිදු කළා. මෙහිදී අවධානය යොමු කළේ ලෙස්බියන් කාන්තාවන්ගේ ලිංගික ක්‍රියාවලියේදී මතුවෙන ගැටළු හා මතුවිය හැකි සෞඛ්‍යමය ප්‍රශ්න පැහැදිලි ලෙස විග්‍රහ කර දැනුවත් වීමයි. විස්තර මෙතැනින් කියවන්න.
ඔක්තෝබර් 18-19 ලිංගික සෞඛ්‍යය, ස්ත්‍රී පුරුෂ සමාජභාවය සහ ලිංගික අයිතිවාසිකම් පිළිබඳ වැඩමුළුවක් මොනරාගල ප්‍රදේශයේ දී ඌව වෙල්ලස්ස ගොවි කාන්තා සම්මේලනය සමග එක්වී WSG විසින් සංවිධානය කළා. විස්තර මෙතැනින් කියවන්න.
ඔක්තෝබර් WSG විසින් ගෝලීය LGBT අධ්‍යාපනඥයින්ගේ සන්ධානයේ (GALE) උපදේශක මණ්ඩලයේ දෙවන වාර්ෂික රැස්වීම ලංකාවේ පැවැත්වීමට පහසුකම් සැපයූවා. විස්තර මෙතැනින් කියවන්න.
ඔක්තෝබර් 19-21, REACH 08 අන්තර්ජාතික තරුණ සමුළුව ඔක්තෝබර් 19-21 දෙදින තුළ, ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ශ්‍රී ජයවර්ධනපුර දී පැවැත්වුනා. මෙහිදී ආසියානු කලාපයේ තරුණ අය එච්අයිවී/ඒඩ්ස් ගැන දැනුවත් කිරීම සහ ඔවුන් සහචර අධ්‍යාපනඥයින් ලෙස පුහුණු කිරීම, අරමුණු වුනා. WSG හි නියෝජිතයින් දෙදෙනෙක් මේ සමුළුවට සහභාගී වූ අතර, WSG හි සම්බන්ධීකාරකට ‘කාන්තාවන් සහ එච්අයිවී/ඒඩ්ස් අතර සම්බන්ධය ගැන සාකච්ඡා මඬුල්ලක දී ආරාධිත ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමක් සිදු කිරීමට අවස්ථාවක් ලැබුනා විස්තර මෙතැනින් කියවන්න.
ඔක්තෝබර්25 WSG සාමාජිකාවන් සඳහා සබඳතා කළමනාකරණය පිළිබඳ අර්ධ දින වැඩමුළුවක් පවත්වා තිබෙනවා. එහිදී අපි අපව සහ අනෙකුත් අයව පිළිගැනීම කරන ආකාරය, සම්බන්ධතා තුළ දී සන්නිවේදනය දියුණු කර ගන්නා ආකාරය ගැන සාකච්ඡා කර තිබෙනවා. විස්තර මෙතැනින් කියවන්න.
ඔක් 27-30 RFSU විසින් නේපාලයේ කත්මන්ඩුහි දී ‍ස්ත්‍රී-පුරුෂ සමාජභාවය සහ ලිංගිකත්වය පිළිබඳ වැඩමුළුවක් පැවැත්වූ අතර ඒ සඳහා WSG  නියෝජිතයින් දෙදෙනෙක් සහභාගී වුනා. විස්තර මෙතැනින් කියවන්න.
නොවැ 14-17 ‘සමාජ ව්‍යාපාරවල බලය’ යන තේමාව යටතේ AWID සමුළුව 2008 නොවැම්බර් 14-17 දිනවල දකුණු අප්‍රිකාවේ කේප් ටවුන්හි දී පැවැත්වුනා. මේ සමුළුවේ දී, “යාවත්කාලීව සිටීම!: දකුණු ආසියාවේ කුයර් කාන්තා අරගල” “සහ “ඔබේ භාෂාව ගැන සැලකිලිමත් වන්න: ලිංගික අයිතිවාසිකම් සංවාදයේ දේශීය භාෂාවල දේශපාලනය” යන මාතෘකා යටතේ WSG විසින් සාකච්ඡා මඬුළු දෙකක ඉදිරිපත් කිරීම් සිදු කළා. විස්තර මෙතැනින් කියවන්න.
නොවැ නොවැම්බර් 29 වන දින WSG සහ COJ එකතු වී “මමා මියා” නමින් සාදයක් සහ චිත්‍රපට දැක්මක් ඉදිරියේ සංවිධානය වන Solidarity Gaymes සඳහා අරමුදල් රැස් කිරීමක් ලෙස සංවිධානය කළා. විස්තර මෙතැනින් කියවන්න.

2008 in Brief
January 24-27 WSG members attended the 3rd ILGA-Asia Regional Conference held in Chiang Mai, Thailand, where they presented a research paper titled “Women’s Sexuality and Cultural Politics in Sri Lanka”. click here to read more.
February 11-16 A workshop on sexuality, sexual and reproductive health and rights was held in Manesar, New Delhi, India from February 11 to 16, and was attended by one WSG member. විස්තර මෙතැනින් කියවන්න.
June WSG and EQUAL GROUND worked together to support two young lesbian women. විස්තර මෙතැනින් කියවන්න.
June 14 WSG organized a Pride Party called “FREE-Q!” at the Palm Beach Hotel, Mount Lavinia to raise funds. click here to read more.
June 29 The WSG participated in the ‘I Have a Dream’ drag show, which was presented as the first feature of the 2008 Colombo Pride Week at the Lionel Wendt Theatre, and several WSG members took part in it. click here to read more.
June 30 – July 3 WSG members contributed to the first LGBT photography and art exhibition, “Rainbow Visions”, which was the second component of Colombo Pride 2008. The experience of one of the members who submitted photos to the exhibition was featured in the ‘Sanvedini’ newsletter. click here to read more.
July  6 Pride Parade (‘Dykes on Bike’ bike parade)

The final event of Colombo Pride 2008 was the kite festival held on the Mount Lavinia beach. Members of the WSG rode motorcycles, holding rainbow flags, along the Galle Road, and joined the kite festival විස්තර මෙතැනින් කියවන්න.
July 19-20 In parallel to the 15th Summit of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) scheduled to be held in Colombo in August, a large conference called the ‘People’s SAARC Festival’ was organized under the theme “Towards a South Asian Unity” and brought together more than 1,400 civil society activists and various community representatives representing all countries of South Asia. The WSG, COJ, and EQUAL GROUND collaborated by sharing a stall and participating together in a freedom march. This is the first public march similar to a Pride march where LGBTIQ+ organizations in Sri Lanka participated to shed light on LGBTIQ+ rights. click here to read more.
July A lesbian woman and her intimate partner (girlfriend) who had nowhere to live due to domestic violence she faced because of her sexuality/sexual orientation came to WSG seeking accommodation. WSG provided accommodation and subsequently a job to the first young woman A, who was unable to return home. click here to read more.
August WSG, in collaboration with ‘Praja Diriya Padanama’ (Community Courage Foundation) held a workshop on sexual health, sexuality and gender in Puttalam. 53 women from different ethnicities and across the district participated in this workshop. click here to read more.
August 23 A one-day Training of Trainers (ToT) on HIV/AIDS was held for WSG staff and members. The main objective of this training was to train participants as trainers to conduct a half-day training session on HIV and AIDS for members of rural community-based organizations in Puttalam, Monaragala, Buttala and other parts of southern Sri Lanka. click here to read more.
September 3 – 4 The South Asian LGBTI Partnership Building Workshop was held in Nepal in September. At this workshop, it was agreed to create a South Asian Human Rights Commission for people facing social injustices due to their gender and sexuality, and it was decided to establish its office in Kathmandu. Representatives were appointed from all countries, and the WSG was appointed as the Sri Lankan representative. click here to read more.
September 19 and every month throughout the year on a certain day WSG had been holding monthly meetings and made a presentation on safe sex practices and sexually transmitted diseases at the September meeting. The focus here was on discussing and raising awareness on the issues related to the sexual practices of lesbian women and other related health issues. click here to read more.
October 18-19 WSG organized a workshop on sexual health, gender and sexual rights (SRHR) in the Monaragala area in collaboration with the Uva Wellassa Farmer Women’s Federation. click here to read more.
October WSG facilitated the second annual meeting of the Global Alliance of LGBT Educators (GALE) Advisory Board in Sri Lanka. click here to read more.
October 19-21, The REACH 08 International Youth Conference was held in Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka, from 19 to 21 October. The aim was to educate young people in the Asian region about HIV/AIDS and train them as peer educators. Two representatives from WSG attended the conference, and the WSG coordinator had the opportunity to make a guest presentation at a panel discussion on the relationship between women and HIV/AIDS. click here to read more.
October 25 A half-day workshop on relationship management was held for WSG members. It discussed how to accept themselves and others, and how to improve communication in relationships. click here to read more.
October 27-30 RFSU held a workshop on gender and sexuality in Kathmandu, Nepal, which was attended by two WSG representatives. click here to read more.
November 14-17 The AWID Conference was held in Cape Town, South Africa, on 14 and 17 November 2008, under the theme ‘The Power of Social Movements’. At this conference, WSG presented during two panel discussions and those presentations titled “Staying Updated!: Queer Women’s Struggles in South Asia” and “Mind Your Language: The Politics of Local Languages ​​in the Sexual Rights Dialogue”. click here to read more.
November On November 29th, WSG and COJ came together to organize a party and film screening called ‘Mamma Mia’ as a fundraiser for upcoming ‘Solidarity Games’. click here to read more.
December 13 The Solidarity Games were held at the Shalika Grounds in Narahenpita, Colombo, and it was jointly organized by WSG and COJ. Many members of the LGBTIQ+ community enthusiastically participated in this day-long sports event.click here to read more.
