| 2005 July 21-24 | A two-day joint residential workshop on gender, sexuality and sexual health was held in Negombo. This workshop brought together women who had participated in three previous workshops held in Mahiyanganaya, Monaragala and Kekirawa, as well as their resource persons, in order to have a more in-depth discussion on the issues discussed in their local workshops. click here to read more. |
| July | In July, WSG had an informal discussion with a lawyer about the steps involved in registering itself as a non-governmental organization. Here, it was focused on both the options of registering as a non-governmental organization or a not-for-profit organization. This might have been further discussed with legal professionals. |
| August 04 | A WSG membership meeting was held at the drop-in centre, where participation in international conferences and future projects were discussed. |
| August | On August 10, a meeting with sex workers was held at the CSDF’s drop-in centre to discuss the progress of the project on female sex workers.

| September 4 | A WSG member meeting was held, where the sex workers project was discussed. It was decided that the team of lawyers who expressed opinions in a judgmental manner, without sensitivity towards sex workers, and justified the injustices in the legal system by saying “that is just the way things are” was no longer suitable to work on the project. However, it was further decided to select another suitable group of lawyers apt in human rights law to provide legal assistance to sex workers. |
| September 21-25 | A WSG member attended the 10th International Meeting on Women and Health, held in New Delhi, India.
The conference had a separate panel to discuss developments in Asia and around the world regarding lesbian women’s rights. In addition, there were several sessions discussing issues related to gender and sexuality, women’s health, and issues faced by sexual minorities, including transgender and hijra individuals. |
| October 10 | T-shirts with the WSG logo carrying slogans such as ‘OUT AND PROUD’, ‘Let’s make a diverse universe’, ‘Women on Top’, ‘Women-strong-smart-powerful-beautiful-intelligent-lovable’ were printed and sold among WSG members and allies to raise funds for the organization and increase the organization’s visibility. | October 20-23 | One member representing WSG participated in the ILGA Asian Regional Conference held in Cebu, Philippines, and presented a research paper on the situation of gay rights in Sri Lanka and a report on the organization’s work in the country. |

| November | The WSG office and drop-in centre were moved to a new location in November 2005. The drop-in centre was equipped with a library room stocked with books and other literature for the use of members and researchers, a living room, and accommodation facilities for members coming from outside Colombo. | December 5 | WSG was selected to co-chair the ICCAP Community Conference Sub-Committee, which would be held concurrently with the 8th ICCAP (International Congress on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific) scheduled to be held in Colombo in 2007. The ICCAP Community Conference Sub-Committee meeting was held at the WSG office and it was decided to hold future meetings there as well.
